The Puttalam Hindu College was founded more than 30 years ago in 1979, by Late Nadaraja Devar and Late Ratnasingam.As the college grew, it faced a major crisis in 1984 due to inadequate infrastructure.But fortunately at that time Socialists donated to build again. Puttalam Hindu Central College is one of the best known school for primary, secondary studies and especially for discipline in Puttalam district .
Puttalam Hindu Central College is a mixed school. It is situated in the core area of the Puttalam city. It is the dedication of the teachers which has brought the school to an academically admirable situation. Ever assisting parents too helped the growth of the school continuously.
Our school students have as doctors, engineers, accountants, attorney at low, bankers, and entrepreneurs. They have been outstanding in sports as well, leading the district school in Athletics, Cricket, Football, and Netball.
The scholarly principals, the high caliber of Puttalam Hindu teachers, and their dedicated services in the past and the present, have thrust the college to the forefront in education and sports in Sri Lanka.

Our school has been adversely affected by the recent heavy rain and flood. Roads inside the school premise have been affected badly, and children are facing difficulties in getting into and out of the school. Roofs of the school buildings also have been damaged and there is water leakage. Toilets are at an unusable state. Also the light bulbs thought out the school have been burnt. We need you help in repairing. Few of our Old students have already contributed a substantial amount. We sincerely thank them for their help. For your question/contributions please contact T.
